Live At Oberlin AA Records 110206 DVD-R £9.99 New single-camera full-gig document that features gnarled sets from Raven Strain and Sick Llama and a wild, high-energy show from Wolf Eyes filmed on November 3rd 2006. The Wolf Eyes show is in two parts as they are interrupted by the fire department and the building is temporarily cleared halfway through. The first half is all classic metal/vocals/electronics/bass improvised murk while the second half sees them explode into some crushing proto-doom drum machine/vox jams. Totally exhilarating. |

split Arbor #62 7" £6.99 Inspired split 7" in an edition of 400 copies with full colour artwork by Maya Miller of Religious Knives. C. Spencer Yeh aka Burning Star Core's side is an excellent slice of heavy metal violin, with improvised roars, clanks and singing strings adding up to a beautifully concise rip through the kinda post-Faust/Tony Conrad/Dream Syndicate moves that illuminate much of his back catalogue. The Sick Llama side compiles a bunch of totally alien sounding cut-up compositions all drawn from impossible-to-place sound sources and rendered with that massively murky Fag Tapes sound that is so fucking addictive. Love it. |
