Rambutan is the solo project of Albany NY’s Eric Hardiman. Having released over 20 Rambutan titles on tape, cdr, and vinyl, Hardiman has also played with psych stalwarts Burnt Hills and Century Plants since 2007. He explores sonic territory that is both experimental and hypnotic in nature, using a variety of instrumental strategies and approaches. “In his solo work as Rambutan, Hardiman adeptly combines noise with an austere melodicism, bringing together other diverse elements like dub and musique concrete in a syncretic union” (Foxy Digitalis). Byron Coley says, “In this guise, Eric creates thick, lardy waves of guitar/amp psychedelia in a direction not unlike Dead C or Gate” (The Wire). In 2012, Aguirre released a split LP with Rambutan and Tidal. Forthcoming Rambutan LPs are being issued on Fabrica Records in 2013 and on Desire Path Recordings down the road a bit. Hardiman is also a founding member of the Albany Sonic Arts Collective and runs the Tape Drift label (www.tapedrift.com).
