Hey everyone – this week’s big news is the latest release on our own Volcanic Tongue imprint, a deluxe solo LP from Richard Youngs, Inceptor, in an edition of 300 copies with silkscreened sleeves by Alan Sherry. It’s a mind-blowing guitar/vocals record that sees Richard connecting with the PSF school of overblown psych guitar combined with those amazing vocals. We also have a special art edition version available in a run of only 10 copies (SORRY THE ART EDITION IS SOLD OUT!). Check it out below. More inspired rumblings from the Brisbane underground with a limited to only 52 copies CD-R from VT faves Blank Realm on Alberts Basement and a great 7” from Sky Needle (aka Joel Stern, Ross Manning and Alex Cuffe) on Independent Press. Deluxe vinyl reissue of Amalgam’s (Trevor Watts/John Stevens/Jeff Clyne/Barry Guy) classic 1969 Prayer For Peace LP, still one of the classic UK free jazz sides, on NoBusiness Records. Deluxe and very limited art edition of Andrew Chalk’s Ghost Of Nakhodka CD with special handmade slipcases on Faraway Press. Two killing 1975 sides from the pre-Ubu Cleveland underground, with 7”s from Mirrors and Poli Styrene Jass Band on Violet Times. Excellent private press reissue on Guerssen of Justen O’Brien & Jake’s cosmic 1978 LP Time Will Tell: fans of DR Hooker, Jade Stone & Luv and Bobb Trimble need to check this out.
