Harry Pussy
You'll Never Play This Town Again: Live, etc 1997
Load #121
CD
OUT OF STOCK!

Much-anticipated compilation album that bundles alla the key recordings from the most creatively accelerated and prodigiously form-gobbling incarnation of Harry Pussy, still the most extreme avant/hardcore group to ever weld bucket-loads of freedom to post-Teenage Jesus/Germs/Beefheart aesthetics, lightning fast guitar bombs, liberated drum fury and incredible post-Yoko vocals. You'll Never Play This Town Again compiles the highlights of the later, faster-and-louder incarnation of the group, when Dan Hosker replaced Mark Feehan, and it mops up some of the best Harry Pussy material, the Untitled/Tour/Fuck You LP, the Live 10", the split singles with Pelt and Frosty and the Radiation Nation single on De Stijl alongside seven unreleased tracks, all expertly re-mastered. The live album is particularly mind-blowing, capturing the band at an implosive high-energy peak, including their legendary, pneumatic take on Kraftwerk's 'Showroom Dummies', while the studio material barbarizes whole histories of freak out style. Hard to think of another group who so completely demolished notions of primitive and avant garde: Adris Hoyos's drumming is so beyond technique that it somehow reconciles caveman smarts with the time-killing fury of Sunny Murray - no wonder Chris Corsano lists her as his all-time favourite drummer. This is an amazing document of one of the truly legendary once-in-a-lifetime rock groups, too technically advanced/too super primitive to ever inspire copyists, too formally aggressive not to have their name written in stone. Safe to say there will never be another group like them. Highest possible recommendation.
